Product Information:
Grow Your Own Iconic Giant Sequoia (Redwood Tree)
Introducing a truly special addition for us here at Dry Rock Trees! Nothing speaks of a more iconic American tree than the Giant Sequoia ( Sequoiadendron giganteum ), often simply called the Redwood tree. As a majestic member of the Cypress family, this ancient conifer is native to the Sierra Nevada mountain range of California.

A Living Legacy - Help Save a Species: The natural habitat of these magnificent trees is sadly diminishing, and the species is currently considered endangered in its native range. Here's your unique chance to help keep this iconic species growing and cultivate one of these truly wonderful trees that can last your family for many generations, potentially living over 3000 years!

Growth & Preferred Climate: While the young Sequoia starts out as a small coniferous tree much like any other young evergreen, it is a relatively fast-growing tree, capable of adding over 3 feet per year in ideal conditions. It thrives in its native range (USDA Zones 6-8) and is known to grow easily in the Pacific Northwest, California, and the Southern US states where conditions are favorable.

Important Growing Considerations: The Giant Sequoia prefers a more humid environment with hotter summers and grows best in moist, rich, well-drained soils. It is crucial to note that it will not tolerate consistently dry soil conditions.

For regions outside its natural, humid habitat (like parts of Wyoming), successful cultivation will require dedicated care, including consistent watering, especially during establishment and dry periods, and selection of a microclimate with adequate moisture and protection. While it may not reach its towering native heights in all locations, growing a Giant Sequoia is a profound experience that offers incredible beauty and a tangible connection to nature's most enduring giants.

Bring a piece of American natural history to your property and embark on a generational journey with the awe-inspiring Giant Sequoia.
