Product Information:
The Eastern Red Cedar, while not a true cedar, rather belonging to the Juniper family of trees, it is a truly hardy variety of evergreen. It does best on dry soils in full sunlight tolerating cold and drought. Though native to Northeastern North America, it is widely cultivated in the Wyoming and Colorado areas for windbreaks and animal shelter. Birds will love the small berries it produces and provides excellent cover for deer and small animals. Though not the fastest growing evergreen, its ability to survive and adapt to just about anywhere where other trees would fail miserably gives it a true advantage. Additionally, the wood of mature trees has been used historically over the years for various uses and has a natural ability to repel insects.
